Joelle & Gregory — and the portrait that will not sit still
The kiss
Plaza de España
Golden hour, 19:40
In motion
SEVILLE — The happy couple, pictured moments after exchanging vows, and captured
here in a portrait that refuses to keep still — as is the custom in these pages. They had
travelled to the sun-baked south of Spain with no guests, no seating plan and no speeches
— only each other, a photographer, and a city that has been marrying people off for
the better part of a thousand years. Ministry sources confirm the union is entirely legal,
remarkably cheerful, and mercifully free of Dementors.
The announcement
With a deep layered history and old world charm, Spain provided the perfect
backdrop for our union.
Seville perfectly reflects the scars of centuries past, and yet exudes
a vibrant optimism with the evolution of our convictions, family, life & love.
For all who have played a part in this journey,
we thank you sincerely.
Please know that even without your physical presence, your spirit has been with us
throughout.
Thank you for your support through every challenge, and please take a moment to
share in this brief album of our elopement.

Muggle affairs
A union years in the making
Correspondents in Andalusia report a ceremony conducted without spectacle, and yet
producing a spectacle regardless: two Muggles, one photographer, and a great deal of
golden light bouncing off very old stone.
No guests. No speeches. No plan.
Witnesses describe a quiet morning, a walk through the Plaza de España, and a
couple who appeared — we are assured — entirely untroubled by the absence of
seating charts.
Weather charms unnecessary
The sun declined to be managed. It performed beautifully anyway, and was widely
credited in the resulting photographs.

“Tender, but stubbornly in focus”
The Daily Proposal’s portrait desk notes that the lead image was captured at
nineteen minutes past seven, at the precise moment the light becomes unreasonable
and everyone stops behaving.
Editor’s note
Readers of a nervous disposition should be advised that the photograph above has
been observed to breathe. This is normal. It is also, we concede, rather lovely.
